Pro health packages for maintaining health

Even if you have no health complaints, it is important to have screening tests once a year, particularly after the age of 35. Why? In our busy world we often forget about our own health, even though we all want to stay healthy and active as we grow older. Our health should not only matter once problems appear. In our view, the quality and accessibility of healthcare services is essential to improving quality of life. With that in mind we created our unique health-maintenance packages, which do not stop at carrying out the analyses and screening tests but also include the interpretation of the results, laboratory trend analysis and the necessary medical consultations.

Who are these services for?

The package of analyses is recommended for people over the age of 35 who have no symptoms, for the purpose of disease prevention. The analyses give an overall picture of the state of health and of the body’s fundamental vital functions.

What investigations does the Pro-Health package include?

• function of the haematopoietic system | anaemia, inflammation, leukaemia
• liver conditions | liver conditions caused by toxins or inflammation,
• fatty liver, kidney function | kidney failure, kidney stones
• carbohydrate, protein and fat metabolism | diabetes, abnormal levels of fats and cholesterol in the blood
• inflammatory processes in the body | acute and chronic inflammatory diseases
• prostate screening (for men)

What does Pro-Health+ add?

With Pro-Health+, the package is extended with ultrasound examinations [abdominal for men; abdominal and breast for women]. Ultrasound is the most effective method for diagnosing disease, and it is also painless and non-invasive. An ultrasound examination provides detailed information about the following:

• the condition of the organs of the abdominal cavity and the lesser pelvis
• possible abnormalities of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, urinary tract, bladder, kidneys, uterus and ovaries
• the condition of the large blood vessels of the abdominal cavity and the condition of the lymph nodes
• the condition of the breasts (for women), given the risks associated with breast cancer

Evaluation of the results is included.

The interpretation of the results takes place in two stages.

(1) For both packages [Pro-Health, Pro-Health+] we provide a clear written interpretation, prepared by our laboratory and specialist doctors on the basis of the results. Where necessary, this interpretation may include suggestions for further tests. In addition, we provide easy-to-understand charts showing how your laboratory values (such as blood sugar levels and so on) have developed compared with previous years and with the normal ranges.

(2) In addition, if the patient does not already have a treating physician, they will have the opportunity to consult in person with the laboratory or specialist doctors of the Pro Vitam clinic. Our doctors will help interpret the results and, where indicated, will give guidance on any further recommended examinations. The cost of the package includes the written interpretation and, where necessary, the personal consultation. An appointment is required for the latter. On request, blood can be taken at the client’s home, including on Saturdays.

If the results of the analyses show no deviations, we recommend repeating the investigation annually. Pro Vitam sends its patients an annual reminder.

How should you prepare for the tests?

Do not eat for 12 hours before the blood sample is taken and for 3 to 6 hours before an abdominal ultrasound. Drinking still water is recommended. The patient should have a full bladder when attending the ultrasound, so urinating before the examination is not advised.
